Laura P

“Amazing acupuncture!
I had my first treatment with Karen for ear acupuncture, and felt so relaxed after.  I'm very sensitive to needles, so was a little worried, and I could feel her caring as she gently placed needles and also used smaller diameter to accommodate my sensitivities!  I really felt like I was in good hands!
The office is very clean and peaceful.   I really like the picture of her dog on the wall:).

It's nice to have such a reliable place to go for acupuncture!!!   I'm looking forward to my next session!”

Do you take insurance?

Yes, but it is complicated. If you’ve met your deductible, and you have good acupuncture coverage, I should be able to take your insurance.

Do you take Workers Comp?

Yes! I am signed up with the US government and can take workers comp for US Postal workers and nurses who work at the Veterans hospital. I also am in network with AcuNetwork Pain Management Center.

Do you take insurance managed by ASH?

No I do NOT take Blue Shield California PPO, Kaiser, or any insurance that is managed by American Specialty Health (ASH). They do not pay providers a living wage, require excessive paperwork, and often deny claims. If your Blue Shield is not PPO, it is likely you have good acupuncture coverage, but you have to check your specific plan. This article explains the situation well https://thrive-acupuncture.com/blue-shield-changes-result-in-less-acupuncture-benefits/

Can I use my FSA or HSA with you?

Yes! You can use your Flexible Spending Account (FSA), or Health Savings Account (HSA) for acupuncture.

Do you take Medicare?

No. I CAN NOT accept Medicare because that requires the licensed acupuncturist to to work under the supervision of an MD or be an MD themselves. It also only covers treatment for low back pain. A push for a change in legislation needs to be made to include licensed acupuncturists to be primary care providers under Medicare as well as allowing patients to be covered for other ailments besides low back pain.
